Layaway Days: Art collecting on a Budget
Last month, I entered a contest to win a free painting from artist Natalia Fabia. I didn't win the grand prize, but did win a free print, which arrived this afternoon. Firstly, I'd like to thank Natalia for the opportunity to participate and to own one of her pieces. I have long been a fan of her work and feel blessed to have won. Secondly, is there anyone cooler than Natalia Fabia - the answer is NO!
Natalia's paintings contain elements from tattoo, punk, and stripper culture, to depict images of strong, independent women. If hooker-chic isn't already coined, it needs to be. Natalia's pieces are very involved and often contain subtleties, for the viewer to discover. In 'Brooklyn Rainbows', I love the Pittsburgh Penguins logo on the fridge. I'm Canadian and a huge hockey fan, so it's rare that these two world's align.
Natalia has one of the more fun and diverse Instagram pages. She posts a lot of process shots and is a workhorse, always creating new work. Her daughter is an adorable little mini-version of Natalia and I just found out that her partner is one of the founding members of Bad Religion, arguably the best punk band ever formed.
Thank you again Natalia! If interested in purchasing her work or following her on social media, click on the links below.
Art isn't purchased at big-box stores. This blog is for collectors like me, who collect on a budget.
