Provocative. Graphic. Emotional. These are descriptions of Australian artist, Ellie Kammer's, most recent works. Ellie was diagnosed with endometriosis, a painful disease that affects 6.3 million American girls and women, according to the Endometriosis Association. In lay terms, endometriosis occurs when tissues that should occur inside the uterus, occur outside of the uterus.
Ellie has been posting images of her recent works, as of late, which have been incredibly moving. She has taken the hidden, internal struggle and expressed it visually, by painting nudes, often covered in various amounts of blood. Much like depression, endometriosis often occurs in silence. Ellie, like Canadian artist, Kit King, are helping to create a new dialogue.
Ellie released 'Endometriosis' as a limited edition print. The print will set you back $250 and will be limited to 20 prints.
Prints are available from Ellie's Big Cartel site, which can be reached by clicking on the image below.
Art isn't purchased at big-box stores. This blog is for collectors like me, who collect on a budget.
