Layaway Days: Art collecting on a Budget
We are one week away from the opening of Amanda Manitach's 'Dirty', at Winston Wachter in Seattle. Zaria Forman's successful 'Antarctica' exhibition, is being replaced with Manitach's tongue-in-cheek wallpaper imagery. There is a striking contrast between the regal filigree and Manitach's text-based art, which includes: "I am my own fucking soulmate"; "Psycho but cute"; and "Save your fucks for magical shit". To me, this is Seattle's most anticipated show of the year - less the Seattle Art Fair. And to keep things interesting, I left my job this morning - so no new purchases for me. Either way, I will be in attendance at the show, if any of my readers are heading down.
November 15th @ 6-8pm.
Excerpt taken from Amanda Manitach's mailing list:
I’m exhilarated—exhausted—very excited to announce the opening of my show Dirtynext week at Winston Wächter. It’s been months in the making and I would be delighted to see you at the reception on Wednesday, November 15th from 6-8 pm. Also exhibiting his latest is Portland-based artist Dirk Staschke, whose work is mouthwatering, tipping between grotesque and sublime, technically astounding.
A few recent scenes from my studio below. Hope to see you soon!
Art isn't purchased at big-box stores. This blog is for collectors like me, who collect on a budget.
