I stumbled upon this short art documentary this morning and it's pretty entertaining. Lisanne Skyler grew up around art, but not in the 'hoity toity' way. Her parents were middle class art collectors, who occasionally bought, sold, and traded art. Her father bought 1 of 17 yellow Brillo Boxes, created by Andy Warhol, for $1000. Before purchasing, Lisanne's father made a deal with the art dealer, who had Andy sign it in red crayon. Eventually, her father traded the Brillo Box for a painting. This story tracks her families Brillo Box and ends with a Brillo Box of her own. A must see for art collectors.
Art isn't purchased at big-box stores. This blog is for collectors like me, who collect on a budget.
