Layaway Days: Art collecting on a Budget
In love. That's how I would describe my fondness for Michele Kortbawi Wilk's work. I first became aware of Michele's work two days ago, when I saw a post from Principle Gallery on Facebook. Their post showed an enormous painting of a gorilla, in what appeared to be a board room. As someone with a Master of Science in Primate Conservation, I was immediately drawn to the electric piece and needed to learn more.
Michele is a lover of animals and that is more than represented in her work. She tackles various projects and themes including: silver leaf paintings of charismatic megafauna; figurative works, pet portraits, and dogs in pedal cars, in which giclee prints are available (send her an email). I think her faunal paintings with silver leaf and dogs in pedal cars are the standouts.
I would recommend a visit to her website, but here are a few of my favorite pieces.
Art isn't purchased at big-box stores. This blog is for collectors like me, who collect on a budget.
