Layaway Days: Art collecting on a Budget
Sonny Sundancer returns, fresh off his sold out pre-release of 'Kunga'. Much like the Kunga release, this print is hand-finished and costs 300 GBP. Just a reminder, 10% of the proceeds will go to IFAW's Russian tiger work and the South Africa landscape program. The only thing that I don't like is that shipping will set you back 52 GBP. I'd rather they charge 20 GBP and donate the 32 GBP to the charity. Excessive shipping costs aside, this is another great release from Sonny.

My two favorite bands of all time are 1) Blind Melon and 2) Alkaline Trio. Here we tbt and listen to two Warhol inspired tunes. 'Candy Says' is a Velvet Underground cover about Factory Superstar actress 'Candy Darling.'
Enjoy the tunes and the day.

Justyna Kisielewicz is a Polish artist, currently based out of California. Her work is immediately recognizable, as she portrays capitalism and consumption with electricity and unmistakable color. Currently, she has a handful of prints available in her online store, priced anywhere between $150-$170. If you are looking for something bright and fun, with veiled messages, look no further.
Joseph Renda Jr. is a fine artist currently studying at the American Academy of Art. Based in Chicago, Renda incorporates elements of realism, abstraction, street art and general awesomeness, in his pieces. Joseph is represented by Vertical Gallery and has sold most of his works, but they still have an original available for $600. He reminds me of an amalgamation of Herakut and Colin van der Sluijs, but in the most original of ways. I think his best works are his collaborations with his seven year-old brother. The love and passion that went into these works are more than apparent. I hope to add an original to the collection someday.

This morning, award-winning Detroit-based painter Felicia Forte, released several affordable works, via her online shop. Her representational paintings often depict simple scenes (i.e. her post-it note series) that convey more than their phenotypic presentation. Several studies are available but I’m really enjoying her post-it note pieces. The colorful, blank notes have the simplicity of Hirst’s dots. However, there is a certain uneasiness and anxiety, in knowing that there are several future tasks requiring completion.

The Art Newspaper recently published an article, detailing a forgery scam facing U.S. collectors. Several collectors were duped by the scam and more collectors are sure to come forward, in the coming months.
Martin Wittfooth was born in Toronto, grew up in Finland, and currently lives in NYC. Still with me? His work often depicts animals in post-apocalyptic settings. The fauna in his scenes, live in a world without humans. Sometimes his images are peaceful and serene, while other images show the effects of years of human negligence.
Wittfooth's 'Drain' is available online through Virtu Gallery. The print measures 10" x 10" and is limited to 100 copies. The prints is signed and numbered by the artist. The print costs $90 and shipping is $25 in the USA ($45 internationally).
